I’m not going to lie; I definitely procrastinated my blog until Sunday evening. I spent all weekend trying to brainstorm ideas, and I came up with absolutely zero. I went to youth group Sunday night with an ever blank slate, but inspiration struck surrounded by my small group. The following blog post is a note of encouragement for a close friend of mine (and really anyone else who needs a pick-me-up). I wouldn’t recommend reading it if you’re looking for something lacking in emotion.

Dear friend,

I want you to know that you are not alone. That might be the most stereotypical piece of advice I could give you, but it rings true.

You’ve seen me on top of the world and held me in the deepest valleys. I want to do the same for you.

I know you hate to ask for help, but I am going to help you anyway. You need to know that you are not a burden in the least.

We haven’t truly known each other for too long, but being your friend has been one of the biggest blessings in my life over the past year.

I know for a fact that God brought us together when He did for a reason. He knew exactly what we would face together, knowing that we would be each other’s strength in the face of trials.

So here I am for you. Here to laugh with you, cry with you, drink some high quality coffee with you, and come up with crazy plans with you. We’re in this thing together (to paraphrase High School Musical 3: Senior Year).

You are a beautiful human, a master of puns, an encourager, and a light to everyone around you. I admire your commitment to the things you love, your way with words, and your literary genius. You are compassionate, kind-hearted, and genuinely so optimistic.

So I guess this letter is part thank you note, to say thank you for having my back, and part an encouragement to keep pushing on. Life will definitely go on, and you have the God of the universe on your side.
